It is due to the uncontrollable spike of COVID-19 cases across the globe, specifically the arrival of the more transmissible Omicron variant in the United States.

But this time, as we strive to live our lives along with the existence of the coronavirus, Apple told its employees that they must return to the office in a few weeks.

Apple Return to Office Deadline This September

As per the latest news story from Bloomberg, the renowned tech giant, which brought us MacBooks and iPhones, is now requiring its employees to return to the office by next month.

The iPhone maker now sets September 5 as its deadline for its return to office mandate for its workforce, which requires them to report at least three times a week.

Bloomberg notes that the Cupertino-based firm deviates from its original return to office plan, wherein employees report on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

The new mandate no longer requires them to report on the first day of the week. But they might still need to go on Mondays as determined by which team they belong to.

All that said, the workforce at Apple would need to return to the office starting September 5.

The iPhone maker failed to disclose if it has any plans of expanding the number of days that its employees need to report to work in the future. But for now, Apple only requires them to work in-person three days a week.

Apple vs. COVID-19

According to a recent report by Mac Rumors, the employees of the tech behemoth have been working from home on most days these days, requiring them to work in the office for only two days per week.

It comes as Apple postponed its full-blown return to office plan due to various surges in COVID-19 cases in the past couple of months.

The Chief Executive Office of Apple, Tim Cook, previously hinted that its employees would soon need to return to the office.

The Apple CEO says that "for all that we've been able to achieve while many of us have been separated, the truth is that there has been something essential missing from this past year: each other."
