As per the latest news story by Inside EVs, the Rivian EDV pilot program now serves Amazon customers in various cities in the United States. It includes locations like Chicago, Seattle, San Diego, Dallas, and Nashville.
It means that the all-electric van of Rivian has been delivering Amazon packages to its users in the said locations.
The EV maker mentioned its partnership during its shareholders' letter for the second quarter of the year.
The automaker says in the letter that "a close development partnership with Amazon and its delivery drivers enabled us to optimize the EDV features and design for last-mile delivery."
Rivian also noted in the same letter that the pilot deployment of its partnership with Amazon began last year or in early 2021, to be more exact.

Amazon Electric Delivery Van
According to a recent report by CNBC, the e-commerce giant has agreed to order 100,000 electric vans from Rivian, which should hit the roads sometime in 2030.
But Amazon is initially expecting to receive "thousands" of Rivian electric vans before the end of 2022.

And to do so, Amazon has decided to deliver some of its packages through an all-electric van.
Jassy says that "Amazon is partnering with companies who share our passion for inventing new ways to minimize our impact on the environment." The Amazon CEO notes that "fighting the effects of climate change requires constant innovation and action."
The exec further adds that "Rivian has been an excellent partner in that mission."
Meanwhile, the CEO of Rivia, R.J. Scaringe also considers the rollout of the custom delivery vans for the giant e-commerce platform as a "milestone" in making last-mile deliveries cleaner.
