Rivian is delaying their deliveries in Canada by a year. This means that the vehicles may arrive during the second half of 2023, according to Inside EVs. However, this no longer come as a surprise because of the recent delays that have happened.
For one, Rivian's deliveries of the R1T and R1S were supposed to start in November 2021. However, a few months before the proposed delivery days, the electric car maker sent out an email alerting those who reserved that the deliveries may not begin until September 2022. Now, it has been delayed again.
Also, Rivian won't be able to apply for certification to sell their trucks in Canada by September 2022 in the first place. The automaker has also emailed their customers in Canada with a new delivery window that is between July and September 2023.

What's Happening?
The struggle for automakers with the shortage of chips is one of the reasons behind the delays. There is also a struggle in getting the parts they need, along with the aftermath of the global pandemic. With the current financial chaos across the world, it just makes things a lot worse.
Also, a good example is Tesla, which continues to increase its prices and push back delivery estimates across the world. This is also due to the global changes that are hitting the electric vehicle market tremendously.
However, Rivian's reasons are due to supply chain issues and the lack of service infrastructure. The EV maker said that they are prioritizing the deliveries in areas where service infrastructure is in place. Furthermore, they explained to their customers that they are navigating a tight supply chain that pushed them to reduce the complexity wherever they can, which includes prioritizing certain build combination over others. Rest assured, the EV maker will continue to send updates regarding the deliveries of their cars.
There is a lot of demand for EVs in Canada, and the Rivian R1T is definitely a vehicle that is worth waiting for. Nevertheless, if you are not willing to wait anymore, there are several other options in the electric car market now. The new EVs market is on an upward trend, so if you want to get an EV, you can definitely find one in the market now.
The electric car market might be in a little bit of turmoil right now, but the demand for sustainable transportation is still there. The EV market will be moving forward, and there are a lot of upcoming electric vehicles that will be released in the coming years.
It's only a matter of time before EVs become the norm, so it's time to get on board.
