Although the hackers behind the security breaches are not yet identified, authorities claimed that Russia and China are both behind the cyberattacks.

For the past few years, various reports stated that Taiwan's local websites had been subjected to numerous cyberattacks conducted by Chinese hackers.

These security breaches usually happen during critical events, such as elections, economic crises, etc.

As of press time, it is still unclear if the alleged China-backed cyberattacks are really connected to the visit of Pelosi.

Possible Reason Behind Cyberattacks Against Taiwan

Many critics claimed that the Chinese government possibly conducted cyberattacks to show their disappointment on the visit of Pelosi to Taiwan.

Then why is China against this important event? AP News reported that China and Taiwan are still in tension as the Chinese government claims that the country is part of its territory.

Now, the visit of Pelosi is allegedly seen by Chinese officials as the way for the U.S. to recognize Taiwan's sovereignty.
