The upcoming iPhone 14 Pro could sport an always-on display feature, according to the latest iOS 16 beta information. This functionality is expected to roll out in the next-gen Apple smartphones in the future.
iOS 16 Beta Hints on Always-On Display
Initially, 9to5Mac recently discovered that the always-on screen behavior was shown in the most recent wallpaper of the iOS 16 beta. While the previous rumors about this functionality may not be true, this time has a different twist to bring for the iPhone fans.
The tech site has reportedly seen that the default wallpapers on the beta contain the "Sleep" state. To give you an idea about it, this version of the Sleep mode is more tinted than usual.
Because of its darker scheme, it is more suitable to have the always-on display functionality. In short, this could be a photo filter you can use for any photos in your gallery once you select the feature.
It should be noted that the Cupertino giant is thinking of copying this functionality from the Apple Watch. However, it might bring this behavior to the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro.
As a reference, the popular fitness smartwatch features a darker display. It will remain in that state unless you switch it on. That's the same case with iPhone 14 Pro. Your wallpaper will remain in a darker mode unless you disturb it with a single swipe.
Always-On Display is Linked to iOS 16 Lockscreen
For instance, when you wake up your wallpaper on Android, you will see that the app widgets won't appear. The only thing that you can usually notice is the time and date.
With the iOS 16's always-on display, you can see other information on the screen beside your wallpaper even though the display is inactive, per Macrumors.
Previously, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said that the top-notch iPhone 14 variants are mostly expected to have the always-on display on the iOS 16 Lock Screen.
Additionally, this feature will complement the displays from the future iPhones because of a very low refresh rate that could go as low as 1Hz.
As a reference, the iPhone 13 Pro boasts a 120Hz ProMotion Display, and it could even hit 10Hz.

iOS Beta 4 Adjustments
As per another story by 9to5Mac, the iOS Beta 4 has recently rolled out new changes and features.
In Messages, Apple changed the time limit when unsending messages. Previously, it was 15 minutes, but now it's down to just two minutes. Furthermore, you only have five edits to do, and your receiver can see them.
Another change you will notice is the larger volume bar that appears when you tweak the volume of a song you play in Music. The fonts and graphics have become bolder on the Lock Screen's Now Playing interface.
