Apple iOS 16 iMessage: Edit History Display ‘Ghost Texts’ on Previously Sent—Unsend Also Arrives

A new feature for the iOS 16 arrives in its release of the fourth betas seeding for the iPhone and iPad.

The new features are centering on iMessage, and the company's beloved text and instant messaging applications now allow people to edit and unsend their messages sent to other recipients. It would help avoid any errors or mistakes in the sent messages and may prevent any conflict or fights regarding a misunderstanding sent via the app.

According to MacRumors' report, the fourth beta that is seeded today brings the latest feature there is for iOS 16, and it is mainly centering on the iMessage app for the public. The new features get users editing and unsending for the iMessage application, primarily available for the said feature only or the ones with the blue message bubbles.

Unsending and editing messages for texts would not be applicable, as it is not part of this feature.

Nevertheless, iPhone to other Apple devices messaging through the iMessage would receive this feature, as long as it is available for both devices and activated.

The fourth beta of the iOS 16 brings the iMessage feature for all, which they expected the company to release for a long time since its introduction at the WWDC 22 event.

Unsend Messages and Edit History for iMessage

Users would receive a highlighted blue text on the bottom of a message bubble if the sent text from a sender edited the iMessage. Here it will say "Edited," and clicking on the text bubble will show "ghost texts" that will show the edit history from the sender. This way, users would not miss out on what was previously sent that the user prevents the receiver from seeing.

Another feature that came here is unsending messages via the iMessage app.

Apple's iOS 16 and its Features

The current release only brings iOS 15 as the publicly available operating system for iPhone and iPad users.

Still, there is already a beta version for the public to try out for iOS 16.

WWDC 22 first revealed the iOS 16 to the world, and it discussed multiple features that bring information to it, with Apple not revealing its release date for all.

Now that its beta version has come out for the world and its program brings the trial for all, several features get a highlight from the company, especially those that users mainly anticipate.

Now, Apple brings its new features for Messages and iMessage available to the world via the beta feature, focusing on giving everyone a chance to manage their texts sent to others. It also lets those receiving messages know what was replaced in the previous sent, and it would allow the public more access and control.
