Apple iMac 27-Inch: M1 Max Chip with Black Finish Last Year? Source Say There Was a Prototype

There was allegedly a supposed iMac with a 27-inch display and M1 Max chip that Apple created last year as a prototype, and it features a black finish for the device. However, it did not make its way to a reveal and production as no such products came from the Cupertino giant apart from the Mac Studio and the MacBook Pro last year.

However, apart from it being the larger desktop, it may also be the reincarnation of the iMac Pro that has the same design to its body as this rumored prototype.

According to a report by MacRumors, there was a reported iMac 27-inch version with a black finish that appeared as a prototype last year, and Apple did not release it or have it continue in production.

However, a source from its forum claimed a supposed device last year that features the M1 Max chip that came out with the Mac Studio.

The source claims that the details here are from an acquaintance, and the post date came around March 2021, before the Mac events last year.

Additionally, the source and its acquaintance said there were supposedly three prototypes to come last year that vary from the 24-inch and 27-inch iMac computers.

Apple's iMac 27-inch Prototype: Is It the iMac Pro?

The alleged iMac 27-inch prototype with the black finish sounds significantly like an iMac Pro prototype with a massive screen and iconic colorway. It is important to note that Apple discontinued the iMac Pro last year and is supposedly seeing a redesign or new release that would take on the M-series chip from the company.

Apple's iMac and iMac Pro

A significant online render and design became viral two years ago regarding the iMac Pro's redesign, and it reimagines the performance-based and professional computer in a new design. The new design features a wireless charging stand for iPhones, iPad Pros, and AirPods, but the device would still be hooked via a power source.

It was one good render from a designer that fans appreciated for the famous professional device.

However, it did not come to fruition, as it is not from Apple.

Several months after, Apple discontinued the iMac Pro in 2021 and removed it from the website and stores as it transitioned its releases from Intel processors to M1. Since then, there has been no information regarding the return of the iMac Pro from Apple's offers and releases, and several users await it.

Now, a source claims a supposed device was coming from the iMac line that was supposedly released last year, and it features the same specs as the iMac Pro when it was released. Nevertheless, the sources say that it is only a larger iMac with a black finish, and it came out last year but did not make it to release and production.
