Elon Musk is wishing the cosmonauts, Roscosmos, and Russia "Bon voyage" on their announced exit from the International Space Station that will take place in two years. The news was something that the public expected from Russia as it already expressed its exit from the ISS earlier this year, but it is yet to do it in 2024.
Elon Musk Wishes Russia 'Bon Voyage' on ISS Exit
Musk did not waste a moment wishing Russia and Roscosmos a "Bon voyage" via his latest tweet.
This tweet focused on his reply to a news story regarding the transcontinental country's exit from the International Space Station.
It was not much of a shock or surprise from Russia that it was exiting the ISS, especially during its current condition where it has a massive dispute. The Russian space agency previously cut all ties or connections with international space companies and agencies, including NASA.
It is massive for all of the space industry now, as some rely on Russia's rockets to continue its launches that will bring several of their space techs to orbit. Despite this, it is unknown whether Roscosomos will continue its space commissions or contracts offering its services to private entities after its space station exit.
Russia ISS Exit 2024: Cosmonauts are Pulling Out
According to Space's report, Russia is exiting the International Space Station in 2024.
It is not only that the Russians will no longer use its services, but the space corporation also announced that its cosmonauts are departing from the ISS and returning to the planet.
For now, the news was unknown to many, including those ISS astronauts and NASA's Bill Nelson, who said they were unaware of this decision from Russia and were not given any information. The change would not affect other nations' space crew in the ISS, especially as they have a mission that focuses on their crew's designation.
Elon Musk, SpaceX, and Russia
Elon Musk is known for his massive space ventures focusing on SpaceX and its many projects, including the Commercial Crew flights with NASA using the Falcon and Dragon, alongside its massive Starship for Mars. However, as much as it focuses on its private dealings, the company also allows the public to have stakes in its tech.
One of them is offering its services to different companies and countries with space agencies that need rockets and other services. Russia has been one of SpaceX's past clients, focusing on purchasing seats from the renowned private space company, particularly in its Crew Dragon spacecraft.
There are more projects and ventures that SpaceX and Russia went on in the past, another is in collaboration with NASA in a single mission that will swap the cosmonauts and astronauts in the Space Station.
However, it seems Russia's plans do not bode well with its future with international organizations, including SpaceX and the ISS. The country is now pulling out of its use and stay at the famous Space Station, and one of the most prominent technology CEOs in the world is now wishing them safe travels on their way.
