The Nintendo eShop's global closure is now confirmed to happen. The game developer first launched this online service in June 2011.
It has been a great long-run for the Japanese multinational video game firm's online store. However, things are now nearing their end.
"We thank you for supporting Nintendo eShop on Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems," said Nintendo via its official press release.
The company also hopes its systems will still bring joy to its fans. To bring nostalgia to players, Nintendo also launched a new website showing them their previous play stats.

Nintendo eShop's Global Closure
According to IGN's latest report, Nintendo's eShop in the West will close this coming March 27, 2023. On the other hand, the versions in Japan are expected to have their own closures on March 28, 2023.
As of writing, players can still download and transfer funds to their Nintendo eShop accounts. However, on Aug. 30, the online stores will no longer accept new balances.
While the close schedules are still afar, gamers are advised to download their story pathways for the popular "Fire Emblem Fates," a 3DS game that can be purchased via Nintendo's eShop.
They need to do this before February 28, 2023, arrives as the game publisher confirmed that the title's main digital copies would no longer be provided.
Now, here's what you need to do before the end dates for Nintendo eShop in Japan and the West arrive.
