Panasonic Energy is looking at a new venture for the company, and it is to expand its production capabilities and bring the new EV batteries that will provide everyone with high-capacity power cells. More importantly, the venture would be a $4 billion plant in Kansas, where it would create a new manufacturing facility to tap into its US operations.
Panasonic Energy: Kansas is the Place for the $4B Facility
According to a press release by Panasonic Energy, Kansas is the area it chose in the country to be its following site for the first manufacturing facility in the country. The focus is to bring EV production from the company to the US, and it would have the manufacturing and all its processes here under the upcoming $4 billion plant.
The venture with Kansas State will help to boost the area's economy and provide jobs during and after construction, mainly when it is operating towards its EV battery creation. The transition to clean energy vehicles demands massive units of power packs that aims to help in bringing the world new battery cells for use.
Panasonic Energy: To Build the 4680 Batteries for EVs?
According to TechCrunch, the EV facility will be a massive one in the area, and it will be larger than Teslas Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada, one of the largest lithium-ion battery factories in the world. Panasonic did not mention any specific battery production to take place in the new plant, with the 4680 batteries unknown for its creation in this location.
Panasonic, Tesla, and EV Batteries
Panasonic is one of the most known brands for electric vehicle batteries made for modern cars in the market. Recently, the demand has been massive for next-generation power cells from the company. It is the 4680 power cells that it co-developed with Tesla, being the high-output cell that aims to bring a million miles before it needs replacement.
Tesla put its faith in Panasonic for these power cells and the Japanese multinational conglomerate that brings the top battery packs in the world. It is in partnership with a lot of EV manufacturers and brands present now, using its batteries to power its cars for a clean energy transportation feature for all.
There were rumors that Tesla failed to create its in-house battery production, and it led to tapping in with Panasonic to bring the new power cells.
Now, it seems that Panasonic will be closer to American brands and the United States market with its upcoming Kansas plant that will bring its battery production here. The focus now is to start on the plant's erection and, in turn, bring the battery cells that would help produce many of its packs for the companies that need them.
