Rivian confirms it is still on track to produce 25,000 electric vehicles (EVs) before 2022 ends while it announced its recent production number in the second quarter.
The startup all-electric automaker previously promised to produce around 50,000 EVs this year. But Rivian went on to cut their goals by half, pulling it down to 25,000.
And this time, the EV maker assures us that they are still on track to hitting its 2022 production goal before the year comes to its final curtain call.
Rivian On Track to Produce 25,000 EVs
According to a recent report by Engadget, Rivian previously admitted that it is frustratingly grappling with the raging component shortages and the high inflation these days.
And as such, the EV startup had to jack up the prices of its quad-motor R1T pickup, retailing at a hefty $12,000. But Rivian was quick to reverse its controversial decision. Yet, its shareholders still filed a lawsuit against their move.
So, it must have been a trying year for Rivian. Still, despite that, its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) RJ Scaringe said that its production is now ramping up.
"We just announced production of 4,401 vehicles for Q2 bringing our cumulative total since the start of production to 7,969 - keeping us on track to reach our year-end goals," the latest tweet of the Rivian big boss reveals.
Essentially, the Rivian CEO assures everyone that the EV maker is hitting its 2022 production goal of 25,000 EVs. And this is despite its slow start in the early months of the year. Not to mention the scant component supply that it direly needs to overcome.

Engadget notes in the same report that the production output of Rivian in the second quarter was a stark improvement from the first three months of 2022.
