Apple iPhone 14 Orders Have Been Cut by 10%, But Why?

Apple iPhone 14 orders have been cut by at least 10 percent before its much-anticipated debut this fall, despite its seemingly strong demand these days.

The next-generation iPhone is months away from its official debut, but the Apple flagship smartphone has taken over headlines as early as now. It includes a couple of leaks and predictions, giving Apple fans a glimpse of what to expect from the iPhone 14.

While countless folks are already anticipating the upcoming iPhone 14, the seemingly strong demand and supply chain do not get along that well.

Apple Cuts iPhone 14 Orders by 10%

A news story by 9to5 Mac reports that the Cupertino-based tech giant had no choice but to cut its iPhone 14 orders from its suppliers even if the demand suggests otherwise.

The news outlet notes that the supply chain mess is prevailing these days, affecting the production of the all-new iPhone 14. And as such, Apple has to adapt to the current reality by adjusting its initial orders for its upcoming smartphone.

According to the Korean news site, DigiTimes, Apple was forced to cut its iPhone 14 orders by roughly 10 percent.

The report says that the main chip supplier of Apple, TSMC, is currently facing a massive slump in its operations after its two largest clients have abruptly pulled out their orders. And the triumvirate includes AMD, NVIDIA, and no less than Apple.

It is worth noting that the Cupertino giant has an initial target shipment of about a whopping 90 million units of the iPhone 14. However, Apple had to reduce it to around 81 million.

Apple Supplier Issues

But why did the Cupertino giant have to do that, despite the massive demand for its upcoming iPhone?

DigiTimes cites that the current issues have something to do with the demand for consumer electronics, as it is expected to worsen by the second half of 2022.

The Korean news outlet says that in the past six months there has been an imbalance in the demand and supply. The latter has been reportedly high, while the consumers have been buying less.

Apple Demand

On the other hand, the early predictions for the iPhone 14 suggest otherwise.

According to a story by Apple Insider, the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the demand for the new iPhone 14 is bound to outperform its predecessor, the iPhone 13.

Kuo also says there is a "solid demand for iPhone 14 in the Chinese market."
