Hideo Kojima has been one of the most respected names in the game industry, with titles like "Silent Hill" and "Death Stranding" being two of his most popular games to date. With "The Boys" series out and in the mainstream, gamers are wondering what it would be like if Hideo Kojima made a game that resembles the series.
Hideo Kojima and a Supposed Game Before 'Project Overdose'
According to the story by Game Rant, it was huge news for the gaming world when Hideo Kojima announced his partnership with Xbox for an upcoming game called "Project Overdose." After a split happened with Konami, however, Kojima decided to create Kojima Productions.
Under Kojima Productions, he was able to release titles like "Death Stranding" in 2019, and fans have been wondering if there will ever be a next sequel or at least a next game under Kojima. The artist was very vocal online about how before the "Project Overdose," he actually had plans for another game.
Kojima Decided to Scrap an Idea He had Due to Its Similarities with 'The Boys'
He said that he decided to scrap an idea still in its infancy stage due to it having too many similarities with the popular "The Boys" series on Amazon Prime. Since the show has shown a lot of popularity towards its third season, Kojima "may have been right to put the idea on ice."
Fans, however, are still wondering what a Kojima game could look like if it had a lot of similarities with "The Boys." Despite Kojima's statements, he did not offer a general summary regarding the would-be project.
What the Game Could have Looked Like
There are a few snippets that show his framework of the idea. In particular, the game could have been centered around a pair consisting of a male and a female who are both parts of a special detective squad that is trying to face off super-powered individuals, or "legendary heroes."
He also noted that it would have been great to have actor Mads Mikkelsen play the lead. Despite the project taking a different route, Kojima notes that he still has a plan to feature Mikkelsen "in one way or the other."

What Hideo Kojima Said About the Series
Other statements regarding the idea outlined why he decided to scrape it. His reason was that he wanted the story to be a "macabre and candid face-off between a superhero (or anti-hero) and a human."
Other specifics regarding the game's potential design were not specified. Hideo Kojima tweeted out that he watched the series and that the tone was very different compared to what he had in mind for a previous project.
