New magnetic nanoparticles are now being tested for human use. Experts claimed their new health tech could prevent lung cancers by triggering the so-called anti-cancer microRNA.
Health experts have already come a long way regarding therapies and other health innovations that can prevent and cure cancer.
Now, science has taken another step forward. Researchers at Pennsylvania State University in the United States shared their new nanoparticles tech in their latest study, "Development of magnetic nanoparticles for the intracellular delivery of miR-148b in non-small cell lung cancer."
Biomedical Engineering Advances journal published their findings.
Magnetic Nanoparticles To Prevent Lung Cancer!
According to News Medical Net's latest report, the new nanoparticles rely on magnetic field alternation simulation.
But, experts said that these nanoparticles still need to be injected into patients' veins. Once they are intravenously implemented, doctors will start exposing the cancer tumor to an alternating magnetic field radiofrequency.
They will conduct this activity outside the patient's body. Combining these two techniques, you will have a sandwich effect.
Once the process is successful, the magnetic particles will start to heat up but not reach the temperature harmful to the human body.
Then, they will release the therapeutic payload exactly when needed to.
Magnetic Nanoparticles' Efficiency
Based on the experts' findings, the conducted tests were successful. They confirmed that the new magnetic nanoparticles could really enter the cancer cells and release the anti-cancer microRNA payload after being exposed to AMF-RF.
After one day, the cancer cells died. Involved researchers added that groups that received the treatment experienced a decreased number of cancer cells compared to the ones that didn't.
As of writing, they are still testing their new cancer treatment. But, they haven't confirmed when they will file a request for human usage.
Meanwhile, a previous study claimed that COVID-19 face masks with lots of titanium dioxide particles could lead to cancer.
On the other hand, another research revealed that the risk of cancer is increased when eating too much meat.
