Affected Game Projects of Niantic
Hanke explained that they are terminating some of their employees (around 85 to 90 staff) so that they can further streamline their operations.
The CEO added that this would allow them to best their position in case there is an economic concern. Because of this, Niantic is forced to close its projects.
These include the new Transformers game, "Heavy Metal," announced in 2021. Aside from this new title, "Hamlet," "Peridot," and the "NBA All-World" are also canceled.
As of writing, Niantic hasn't confirmed if they will continue these new games and when.
Meanwhile, Niantic's "Pokemon GO" pullout in Russia previously happened.
Recently, Niantic's 8th Wall deal was a success.
