Twitter's Closed Caption Toggle Is Now In Service for Android and iOS Users

Twitter's closed caption (CC) toggle is now available to help iOS and Android users see written descriptions while playing a video on the app.

With this new Twitter feature, users will be given a familiar sense of tool from other platforms that is now available on Twitter. Subtitles have been helpful to anyone, especially to those who are not fluent in a specific language, to those who suffer from white noises in their backgrounds, and most especially to those who prefer to have guide captions in order for them to get the real deal of each video that they watch online.

Twitter's Closed Caption (CC) is Now Available

Last April, Twitter confirmed that it began testing a 'CC' button to provide text captions on each video posted on the platform.

By then, the social media company defined this new CC button feature to be available for every user who is watching videos with captions available and has the option to turn the captions off or on with this new tool.

Now, the plan has come to reality as Twitter officially revealed that this helpful feature is now available for everyone. May you be an iOS user or an Android one, you are welcome.

Automated Caption System

Twitter spokesperson Shaokyi Amdo sent an email to The Verge stating that the "CC button" is not related to the automated caption system. Rather, it will only appear on videos with captions that have been set already. This means it will still depend on the uploader of the video if they add captions or not.

But still, don't get disappointed, for this feature will somehow help people who prefer to read than to listen, especially when they are in the public spaces with no AirPods or earphones on to listen to each video on Twitter.

How Important is CC?

It is to take note that having closed captions in each video could be helpful in promoting inclusivity.

Videos with CC have become more accessible to everyone in numerous ways, such as, it allows deaf individuals to understand most of the videos posted online. Also, it helps in retaining information that is being discussed or shown in each video upload, especially since everyone has their various ways of learning and absorbing ideas.

What's More to Come on Twitter?

This year alone, Twitter released numerous additional updates on the platform.

Few of these were when Twitter released a new update that made it easier for users to report potentially bad tweets. In relation to this, the social media platform offered an update about tweet warnings for sensitive videos and photos to make the consumers feel more comfortable and safe.

So, hang on, and maybe more updates will come this year!
