The Walking Dead's fifth season is looking to be one of its biggest - at the very least, it's the subject of the biggest marketing push AMC has ever made. Teaser after teaser has been released, but it's hard to complain when it's about a show as good as The Walking Dead, especially since there's still a few agonizingly long weeks before the show makes its mid-season return.
If anything, The Walking Dead's last teaser set an artistic bar that few other television shows even attempt to reach. It was a fantastically moody trailer, and it fit the tone of the show perfectly. The latest teaser is much more of a standard trailer, and while it's a bit disappointing that AMC didn't push it further, it's still a very pretty teaser:
The content itself may not be the most unique, but one thing that stands out about the trailer is the use of color. The Walking Dead is a dreary show, and as such, it's usually made up of grays and browns. This new teaser, on the other hand, incorporates some rather saturated colors, which is a great change of pace for the show.
Unfortunately, the rest of the teaser isn't quite as unique: there's still vague, spoiler-free dialogue about surviving, shots of zombies being taken apart and footage of people sweating profusely. If you've ever seen one of AMC's teasers for the show, then you know exactly what to expect.
Even so, the fact that The Walking Dead is almost back is enough to get excited. Thankfully, the wait is almost over: The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Feb. 8.
