'The Walking Dead' Season 5: Mid-Season Premiere Footage Revealed

The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead left off on one of the biggest deaths in the show's history. It was one of those perfect TV moments: people suspected that something would go wrong (this is The Walking Dead, after all), but there was no way to tell exactly what would happen. As per the usual, it left fans questioning what would happen next - unfortunately, they'll have to wait until next year for answers.

While those answers aren't here just yet, new footage ofThe Walking Dead's return has made its way online. It doesn't appear that AMC has officially released anything just yet (it's not exactly a high-quality video), but it does offer up a glimpse at our heroes' current state of being:

It's not exactly the most informative trailer, but that's both a blessing and a curse. The show can't really go into too much detail about the mid-season finale, lest it give away what happened...but it doesn't really make it clear what's going on, either. In terms of The Walking Dead, it's a pretty standard trailer, so don't expect anything mind-blowing.

How the footage ended up online is almost more interesting than the trailer itself. It's clearly not AMC's YouTube channel, and the video quality is a harsh nosedive from what fans are used to. Then again, it's the second promo that fans have seen, so it's not as if AMC is really holding out on the fans. In today's day and age, leaks like this are almost expected, but the circumstances surrounding this particular trailer are just plain odd.

One way or another, The Walking Dead is headed back to TV is just over a month: the mid-season premiere airs on Feb. 8, 2015.
