"Call of Duty" Ricochet's Disarm update is an interesting one since it will further annoy cheaters in a unique way. As of writing, various games deal with unfair players in different ways.
Some rely on other gamers' reports, while others use systems that can detect unusual in-game activities. On the other hand, Activision's Ricochet uses techniques that will affect the actual performance of hackers.
Previously, the advanced anti-cheat software received the Cloaking and Damage Shield updates. The Cloaking feature affects cheaters by making other gamers invisible from their sights.
Meanwhile, the Damage Shield focuses on drastically reducing the damage dealt by cheaters against other gamers. Now, Disarm joins these two anti-cheater features to prevent unfair players.
'Call of Duty' Ricochet's Disarm Update
According to PlayStation Lifestyle's latest report, the new Ricochet Disarm features work by disarming weapons used by detected cheaters.

"Today we're sharing another mitigation technique from our toolbox: Disarm. Like the name implies, when cheaters are detected, we simply take their weapons away from them," Activision wrote via official announcement post.
The giant game developer said that this new anti-cheat feature would put unfair players in a time-out since they have insane levels of lethality in the game.
If you pair Disarm with Cloaking, this will further discourage players from using cheats since they will not be able to see other players and can't use their rifles and other weapons at the same time.
To make this more annoying, the Disarm feature will also prevent you from using melee weapons, including your character's fists.
Why Don't Richochet Ban Cheaters in Real-Time?
Activision explained that cheaters will always find a way to have unfair advantages against other gamers. This means that if the anti-cheat software is used just to ban hackers immediately, more cheaters will still find their way through "Call of Duty."
But, Activision clarified that their team was able to ban hundreds of thousands of cheaters across "Vanguard" and "Warzone" after the Cloaking and Damage Shield updates were released.
As of writing, the giant game developer said that the mitigations they released are working efficiently. Because of this, they will continue developing new anti-cheat enhancements that will certainly discourage gamers from cheating.
Previously, the "Call of Duty: Warzone" Classified Arms update featured Godzilla.
Meanwhile, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" is expected to arrive before 2022 ends.
