Apple held a jam-packed Worldwide Developers Conference Event (WWDC 2022) on June 6, with the tech industry's bigwigs unveiling the company's latest devices and software.
Before the event started, numerous rumors were already spreading on the internet. Like with other Apple events, there were rumors and leaks about what the tech giant would announce.
While many of the rumors and reports did become true, some did not turn out to be accurate.
WWDC 2022 Rumors Clarified
One of the rumors that circulated online after the WWDC 2022 event was MacBook Air's updated looks with white bezels. This rumor was fueled by a tweet from known Apple leaker Jon Prosser.
In May 2021, Prosser tweeted a screenshot of a MacBook Air with a white keyboard, white bezels, and filled with bright colors. However, that screenshot of an alleged MacBook Air was not real, according to MacRumors.
Another rumor that made its way around Twitter was watchOS 9's Low Power Mode feature. The feature will allow users to use the watch even with reduced battery life.
The Apple Watch currently has a Power Reserve Mode, which restricts the watch's functionality to show the time in order to save battery life.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the Low Power Mode feature will not be included in the watchOS 9, but there is a possibility that the tech giant will include it in the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8.
As for the Mac Pro, the display will stay the same. There were speculations online that Apple would update the Mac Pro Display XDR at the WWDC 2022 event, but that never happened. The rumor about a silicon Mac Pro was also not confirmed during the event.
Updates that Fans can Expect
Apple fans can expect massive changes for the iOS lock screen, as the tech giant will now allow users to add personalized widgets, choose from new sets of wallpapers, and they can even get the ability to change the font and color of their lock screen.
The Apple Pay Later feature, which was first introduced in 2021, will be launched in mid-2022, according to Gurman.
The System Settings of the iPad OS 16 will also get an upgrade as Apple will roll out a new design. The other apps in the iOS that will get an update are Mail, Notes, Safari, Reminders, and Messages.
Apple also revealed during the event that it wants to focus on the iPad's multitasking ability and upgrade the features that will make the iPad OS 16 more like a MacBook.
As for the M1 iPad Air and the M1 iPad Pro, Apple will add a Stage Manager feature that will allow multiple apps to be open at once in windows, according to Digital Trends.
For those looking forward to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, Apple announced that it would not be making any changes to its design.
The only change that the 13-inch MacBook Pro will have is being equipped with the M2 silicon chip. But the overall design and features will be similar to the previous models. The 13-inch MacBook Pro is expected to hit the shelves in 2023.
