Cupra has just unveiled its brand new urban electric car called the Cupra UrbanRebel. The EV is expected to launch in Europe in 2025 as the company says that it is the biggest project in its pipeline.
Cupra Plans to Sell Half a Million Cars a Year
According to the story by Inside EVs, the brand wants to sell half a million cars a year. This is a huge step forward since it was only able to sell 80,000 cars back in 2021.
The brand is also planning to introduce three brand new electrified models by the year 2025 and also renew its product line-up. Aside from the UrbanRebel, the company also announced two different electrified models called the Terramar SUV and the Tavascan.
Other Cupra Models Include the Tavascan and the Terramar SUV
While there is not much news regarding the Tavascan, when it comes to the Terramar SUV, it is known to have conventional gasoline powertrains but comes with an option for PHEV with 62 miles of EV range as further detailed by Car Expert.
As detailed by Inside EVs, the new Cupra UrbanRebel is expected to be stylish, sporty, and futuristic despite being a small city car. The new model will reportedly be based on the upcoming MEB Small platform by the Volkswagen Group.
The Project is Part of a $10.69 Billion Investment Project
The project is reportedly part of a $10.69 billion investment project, with $3.2 billion of it reportedly going towards a battery gigafactory located in Spain. As per Inside EVs, the original Volkswagen ID. LIFE gave news of the MEB Small platform.

Cupra CEO Gives Statement Regarding the UrbanRebel's New Design
The car is capable of going 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds and comes with a 166 kW electric motor with its battery pack capacity not yet being disclosed. The car, however, is said to be capable of driving up to 273 miles in total, which is similar to the 249 miles of the ID. LIFE.
Cupra CEO, Wayne Griffiths, stated during an Impulse event that the UrbanRebel is more than just a car and that it is a model that aims to "democratize urban electric mobility." Griffiths described the car as sexy, emotional, fun to drive, and also accessible.

Cupra UrbanRebel to Come without Conventional Handles
As per observation, one thing that really stands out with the Cupra UrbanRebel is that its doors do not hold the conventional handles. The car also reportedly has a soft close and comes with frameless windows.
The car is also made of recycled polymers as well as bio-based materials inside. On top of this, its interior also has an original instrument cluster, HUD, as well as a few unique buttons in different places.
