Tesla Shows Off Final Renderings of its Visionary Supercharger Diner With Drive-In Theater

When touting a forthcoming "old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA" back in 2018, few believed Elon Musk's Tweet was based on legitimacy. Yet plans for this Tesla Supercharger Diner have been underway and are moving at a break-neck pace as new imagery surfaces of the establishment in all of its grand exuberance.

On May 21, Tesla officially laid out plans for the Hollywood diner set on Santa Monica Boulevard, filings and blueprints teased via Twitter user MarcoRPTesla. The plans showcase a two-story tall rounded structure with outdoor seating situated around the main building and will feature a drive-in movie theater that has not one but two movie screens for those charging their vehicles "and/or eating in the restaurant," reads the full project description.

It will also enlist a total of 29 Tesla Superchargers, awarding it the so-called Tesla Supercharger station, a concept that has been at the heart of the company for quite some time. Various supercharging stations set across the US wield luxury lounges, Tesla espresso bars, and restaurants. A potential Supercharger Diner under Tesla only seems apt given its long history in this field.

With these plans in mind, renowned architectural guru Ed Howard did his best to turn the aforementioned blueprints into full-on renderings, which he likewise posted on Twitter. He added 20 easter eggs into the mix for the "I Spy" fans that "know Elon's world." The renderings are picturesque and highly detailed, showing a Tesla-strewn lot with two massive movie screens situated on either side of the two-story structure.

Howard clearly added his own bit of imagination to the renderings, specifically the naming of the diner taken from the sci-fi comedy novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. From the base looks of the ensemble, though, the Tesla Supercharger Diner looks to be a fun place to hang out and has a very realtor-futuristic vibe to its overall design, but it's important to note that the structure could change upon full completion.

The original plan was to have the diner set in Santa Monica, as evidenced via building permits laid out by Tesla in 2018. Unfortunately for Musk, those plans had to be scrapped due to some issues with local regulations, a commonality it seems with many of Musk's budding ideas thus the project would find its newfound home in Hollywood, where it seems far more welcomed and a part of the magic of the area.

It's unclear exactly when Tesla consumers can expect to visit the Tesla restaurant concept, given that much of the construction planning still is underway, as well as the viability of future permit approvals. It's safe to say the realtor-futuristic lot will debut sometime within the next two years, give or take, depending on how fast its construction takes.
