Tesla Full Self Driving Beta and Safety Scores

The Beta Program of Tesla FSD began welcoming new members early this year as long as they meet the safety score requirement.

As per an explanatory report by Inverse, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of Tesla, no less than the ultra-rich Musk, introduced a safety score as the request button of FSD rolled out last year.

Tesla then asked its drivers to access their driving behavior to determine their eligibility for the Beta Program of FSD.

Essentially, the safety score ranks Tesla drivers from 100 to zero, depending on their behavior behind the wheel.

The giant EV maker predicts that the average score for its customers should be roughly around 80 percent. However, the FSD Beta Program requires a high safety score of at least 98 percent.

But the safety score requirement has been updated starting June 6.

Tesla FSD Beta Lowers Safety Score Requirement

According to a recent report by Teslarati, the automaker of billionaire Elon Musk started welcoming Tesla owners with lower safety scores than 98.

The giant EV maker has lowered its safety score requirement for its FSD Beta to 95.

As such, Tesla drivers with at least 95 safety scores and above could now enter the Beta Program of its self-driving tech.

Teslarati notes in its report that a Twitter user, who goes by the name ImGlitch, excitedly shared that he got into the FSD Beta Program.

The Tesla owner notes that he only achieved up to a 95 safety score. ImGlitch quips that "there's hope for everyone."

Elon Musk on FSD Safety Scores

The billionaire tech entrepreneur, Musk, tweeted last June 5 that the all-new FSD Beta 10.12.2 software update is welcoming more car owners. The Tesla CEO bares that it is expanding to roughly a hundred thousand users.

The tech exec further disclosed that the next 10.13 update offers more exciting developments. The succeeding roll-out should start handling roads sans the need for any map data.

It is worth noting that the Tesla boss himself said last May that the EV maker could potentially open up its Beta Program to those with 95+ scores.

But Musk notes that it would only be possible if the FSD update 10.12 goes without any hiccups.
