T-Mobile launched its Changemaker Challenge wherein the company will be awarding $95,000 to a collection of students with big ideas. The money will be split between the students to help inspire them to pursue their passion projects.
T-Mobile to Award Winners Up to $15,000
The T-Mobile Changemaker Challenge is a nationwide contest for kids aged 13 to 18 to submit their project or company for three different categories. Five in each category will receive an award of $5,000 and the winner will get an additional $5,000.
To top this off, the winners will also compete in a pitch-off with T-Mobile brass in order to win another $5,000 check. According to the story by Tech Crunch, T-Mobile is not the only company that is holding competitions out there.
Winner of the Changemaker Challenge Already Helped 2,000 Senior Citizens with Digital Adaptation
Just recently, Microsoft launched its Imagine Cup which aimed to do the same and inspire youngsters to pass in their brilliant ideas. MedTechConnect, the T-Mobile Changemaker Challenge, is composed of two cousins from Louisville that have already helped 2,000 senior citizens get vaccinated and with other healthcare appointments.
MedTechConnect did this by assisting senior citizens through the digital process. As per the winners, Telehealth is considered a basic human right which is why it is important to find solutions to ensure that vulnerable people won't be left behind.
T-Mobile Says It Will be Awarding $385,000 in Total to Winning Teams Since 2018
T-Mobile notes that with the current event, they will have awarded $385,000 in total since 2018 to fund the winning teams. The company also notes that they are offering the winners an opportunity for them to level up their ideas to be able to create a "more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future.
Aside from the money, T-Mobile believes that its event will help the participants through networking, mentorship, and seed money. The three categories in which participants were allowed to compete include Equity in Action, Digital Empowerment, and Thriving Planet.
Competition Includes Mentoring and Coaching from Company Leaders and Skills Training from Ashoka
T-Mobile said that the winners were able to tackle different issues which range from food security to "combatting stereotypes around boys reading" in order to make STEM education much more accessible.
The company will also be offering an all-expense-paid trip to their Bellevue, Wash headquarters and a three-day Changemaker Lab coaching and mentoring. The mentoring and coaching will come from leaders of T-Mobile and skills training from Ashoka.

Changemaker Lab is Expected to Start on July 25 and End on July 27
According to the official Changemakers website, applications have officially been closed. The project is a combination of the efforts of T-Mobile, T-Mobile Foundation, and Ashoka.
The Changemaker Lab event where the winners will receive coaching is set to happen on July 25 to July 27 with mentorship being open for all the winning teams from June to October of this year.
