Apple Asks Suppliers to Assemble 'Roughly' 220 Million iPhones in 2022

Apple says that the production for iPhones will be roughly flat, which means that the same numbers that we saw in 2021 will be the same thing for this year.

According to the latest report, this action is considered a "conservative stance" of a tech giant amid the growing competition in the smartphone industry.

Per a report by Bloomberg, Apple is specifically urging its suppliers to produce "roughly" 220 million iPhones in 2022, according to the people who knew the company's plans. That's the same thing that we have observed in the past year.

Following the major update that the iPad maker will roll out in the next few months, the market forecasts suggest that there will be a huge volume in the production of these handheld gadgets.

Particularly, the forecasts point out that the production could result in 240 million units. However, mobile phone manufacturers have felt the challenges in the market recently. As a result, the production estimates could be inaccurate this time around.

According to the sources who chose not to be named, Apple's iPhones thrive because of its wealthy customer base. In addition, its up-to-date software and services are what make it a strong mobile brand.

The competition has become much easier for the tech titan, especially with the closure of Huawei Technologies.

To note, the Chinese smartphone company has become the top handheld maker at one point. Unfortunately, the firm noticed that its revenue has dropped in the succeeding six quarters.

Apple iPhone Production

According to Patently Apple, the company is hoping to attract more customers to buy the next-gen handset because of the success that iPhone 13 achieved last year.

With that in mind, Apple will introduce new features for the upcoming iPhone 14. What's more, is that the Cupertino giant will now spot satellite-based text messaging and newer screen size options for the handhelds.

It's understandable how the COVID-19 lockdown has impacted the production of iPhones. Despite this crisis, the company managed to weather the obstacle as it continued to roll out various smartphones since the pandemic started.

In the first quarter of the year, Patently Apple wrote that there was a downward trend in iPhones across North America and Europe. It is expected that the next two quarters will be much more difficult for the company to deal with because of several interruptions in its plants.

In another story from Tech Times, Apple will soon roll out account and data deletion support for users in line with the new guidelines for developers in the App Store.

The new changes will take effect starting June 30.
