There are multiple reports on WhatsApp regarding the app's end of support for older iOS versions, particularly with iOS 10 and iOS 11. These older devices will no longer have access to the instant messaging app. They would not be able to connect or send messages to other users if their devices could not upgrade to higher operating system versions.
WhatsApp to End Support for iOS 10, iOS 11 Soon
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the leaker spotted that WhatsApp will soon end its support for the devices running iOS 10 and iOS 11, the instant messaging application of the company. It will focus on the new features running on the app, and the company does not guarantee that these latest additions will work on the older versions.
It means that devices like the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C will no longer have access to WhatsApp in the coming weeks, and it will drop its support legitimately. WABetaInfo said that there was false information about ending its support last year, but it would not be like that now.
There is also a notice from devices running the operating system versions about the soon end of its support.
iOS 12 and Up: Requirements for WhatsApp
There is a notice by WhatsApp, and if you are only a user that does not want to update to the latest OS, now is maybe the time to do it to continue using the app. According to a WhatsApp support document, the system requirements focus on iOS 12 and higher to keep the app running on the device.
It will not be like old games that will continue to run, as WhatsApp needs a device to connect to its server that will no longer serve iOS 10 and 11.
WhatsApp and its iOS Version
Most of the new features coming to WhatsApp and its mobile application come first on the iOS platform before being available on the Android OS. One of the many features that recently came to light is the WhatsApp status update that users may put on the app to let other people know their current status before sending a message.
The iOS version of the app sees a lot of features in the recent releases of the application, and Meta brings these to the Apple devices that people use a lot. Also, the first beta features come for the iOS, like the recent addition of reactions and group polls in the instant messaging application that helps make it available for the users.
In most cases, iOS users see the feature come first on their devices compared to Android.
Now, there will be a change in the iOS, as WhatsApp is restricting the versions that will have access to the instant messaging application. It is only ideal for them to focus on later operating system versions to help in making it available for the public to use. WhatsApp focuses on the latest iOS versions and making the app available for use starting the iOS 12.
