Tesla opened its reservations and preorders to the public for its upcoming cargo hauler, the Tesla Semi, which will focus on a fully-electric truck that would bring massive loads from one place to another. The Semi was supposedly coming last 2020 and it got delayed due to production issues from the company, and it moved further until this time.
However, the release of the vehicle will not come this year, and it might be pushed to the coming years.
Tesla Semi: Preorders, Reservations Are Now Open for the Public
InsideEVs spotted that Tesla already opened up preorders and reservations for the Semi truck on its platform, and the company signifies another stage in the electric vehicle's production. The car's listing on Tesla's website for preorder is now available, as previously, buyers can only see its specs and images on the company's online page.
The Semi also offers customization on its platform, and it will go according to what the customer would want for the vehicle, with some options available at an additional cost. Tesla offers the Semi in its standard trim for now, and there would be an upcoming offer for an extended range version.
The standard base variant will have 300 miles on its battery, while the extended range offers 500 miles on a single full charge.

What's the Catch on Tesla Semi Preorders?
The catch for the Tesla Semi preorder is that users will have to pay $5,000 up front for their reservation of the electric vehicle and this is deductible to its selling price. However, the buyers need to pay $20,000 more for its confirmation and preorder to start its production on Tesla's end.
All of which is to be taken off its selling price at $150,000 on its Standard variant, and $180,000 for its extended range.
Tesla and its Semi Truck
The Tesla Semi is one of the vehicles from the clean energy company's lineup that focuses itself on a different venture for transportation, and it is towards the extensive cargo loads. Millions of tons of cargo are in transit daily, and the Tesla Semi will be helping to reduce carbon emissions and the need to burn fuel with its batteries.
The Semi truck is a fully-electric vehicle that brings no engine rumble or noises, as opposed to the massive cargo trucks that use massive engines to power their needs. Now, those who own a trucking company will have less budget for refueling and they too will have stakes on turning the world into a greener environment.
Now, Tesla opened its reservations for the Semi truck, and the reason for its preorders is to use the funds to start its production and begin manufacturing the vehicle for its soon owners.
The company cut back on producing its vehicles and is now requiring payment before it starts making the truck, for a guarantee that it would be sold to those that reserved for it.
