Tesla exports thousands of Gigafactory Shanghai electric vehicles or EVs for the second time since it first shipped vehicles after its production suspension, which was brought upon by the COVID-19 lockdown in China.
The American EV tech giant of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is gravely affected by the surging COVID-19 Omicron variant cases in China.
The ill effects of the novel coronavirus in its origin country triggered the government to pursue strict lockdowns in its Shanghai region to curb its further spread.
It then resulted in the suspension of the production operations of Tesla in its massive facility in the Chinese nation.
Tesla Exports on Giga Shanghai
As per a news story by the South China Morning Post, the lockdowns in China halted the giant production of the EV maker in Shanghai for almost a month or from March 28 and April 18.
Since Tesla Giga Shanghai got back on its feet after suspending its operations, it only sent its first batch of EVs recently.
The first shipment of the Shanghai factory overseas since it had a 22-day break only took place last May 11.
South China Morning Post reports that roughly around 4,700 EVs that were built on the Tesla Shanghai facilities have left the Yangshan Deep-Water Port as it gears up to export to other parts of the world.
The news outlet cited the state-owned paper in China, Jiefang Daily, which got its figures from the customs authorities.
The report did not specify which EVs were part of the first shipments after the production suspension. However, it is worth noting that the Chinese Tesla factory houses the manufacturing of its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
The Jiefang Daily report further added that the Tesla factory in Shanghai is also working to export more than 4,000 EVs after its first wave of overseas shipments last Wednesday.

Tesla Giga Shanghai's Second Batch of Shipments
This time around, according to a recent report by Tesla North, the giant EV maker has already shipped its second batch of exports in Giga Shanghai after suffering a production hiatus.
The latest shipment of Giga Shanghai includes over 4,000 Tesla EVs, following its initial exports last May 11.
Tesla North stated in its report that the latest news came from a local Chinese outlet that goes by the name Knews.
