The Motorola company is looking at another smartphone that will bring an extending screen for all. It is not going to be the flip phone or the upcoming RAZR 3, but a device under the code name "Felix." The device will not fold in half or extend horizontally for more screen space, but it will extend vertically and be a "tall" smartphone.
Motorola Felix: Next-Gen Rollable Phone from the Company
Another leak for Motorola has surface, and it is being reported by 91 Mobiles' Evan Blass that it has seen this new development from the company. The alleged device is codenamed "Felix," though it does not necessarily mean that it is the device's name when it releases.
It is the next-generation rollable phone from the company to bring an extended display alongside the RAZR 3.
Furthermore, this device can extend the screen vertically, and it will have a taller or longer display than other smartphones out there. People have seen how the RAZR device and Samsung Galaxy Flip3 brought longer displays, and it extended the screen more for the people to utilize from the top to the bottom of the smartphone.
Motorola Felix is Like the LG Rollable but the Opposite
According to Android Central's report, the Felix is joining the rollable prototypes of the now-defunct LG Rollable and its competitor, the OPPO X. However, the Felix extends to the opposite side, as both the phones as mentioned earlier extend horizontally or broader than their original look.
The Felix is growing taller when needed, and it will extend vertically upon will.
Rollable Phones: Are They Still a Thing?
A year later, LG is still the one example for many rollable smartphones for the public to see and have a basis for, especially as it is one of the promising devices last CES 2021 to bring a revolutionary display. It features an OLED screen that can stow itself and fold when needed, mostly to fit on pockets and one's hands.
But it can also extend horizontally to provide more space for watching series and using the device for multiple purposes.
Another device that brought rollable phones into the industry is OPPO's X, which features the same horizontal extension for when it "rolls" to bring more space to the screen. Both the devices are touch-screen capable and offer the features like most smartphone devices have, for their features and functions are available to everyone.
Motorola may be teasing the new foldable smartphone it has on its lineup but did not precisely confirm the availability or its development for the public with the RAZR 3. But suppose these two foldable devices manifest some time in the future. In that case, it only means that they are focusing their lineup on extended screens for everyone, apart from their regular releases.
