New complaints were spotted on the Apple support page. If you will check the official website, the very first comment regarding the Dolby Atmos audio problem was posted in September 2021.

This means that the problem remains active for the past eight months.

"After serval days of no single audio dropout, the problem reoccurred in Netflix only. Dolby Atmos on HBOmax keeps spared of the dropouts. I really thought that the problem was gone," said one of the affected Apple TV users.

Dolby Atmos Audio Issue Still Not Fixed

According to MacRumors' latest report, the issue starts when the audio of Dolby Atmos content watched via Apple TV becomes choppy.

There are some instances when the movie that Apple TV users are playing suddenly loses sound. Most of the complaints claimed that the sound bug happens when they are using the Netflix app.

As of writing, Apple hasn't confirmed if it is already working on a fix to solve the annoying Dolby Atmos audio issue. Its latest tvOS 15.4.1 doesn't include an update that will solve the bug.

Because of this, many Apple TV users decided to fix the problem themselves. Most of them claimed that they were able to fix the audio bug after changing the sound settings and disabling Dolby Atmos.

Of course, the efficiency of this fix is still not 100%. Although this is the case, it is still worth the try.

How To Fix Dolby Atmos Audio?

If you don't know how to deactivate your Dolby Atmos, then here's a step-by-step guide you can follow:

  1. First, go to your Apple TV 4K and open the Settings app.
  2. After that, find the "Video and Audio" option.
  3. Once you successfully access it, click the Audio Format button.
  4. You will then be directed to another section that offers the Immersive Audio option.
  5. Below that option, toggle off the Dolby Atmos.

Although this may fix your audio issue, some users said that it will only be temporary since they still experience the problem after conducting the fix.

Another problem with this band-aid solution is that it only works if your Apple TV is connected to one or two HomePods.

Aside from disabling the Dolby Atmos sound feature, you can also try this method suggested by Apple.

All you need to do is follow this system path:

  • Settings > Apps > iTunes Movies and TV Shows > Quick Start

Meanwhile, Hulu's SharePlay support feature for Apple devices arrived.

On the other hand, Netflix launched an Apple TV app update via its native player.
