Apple's classic HomePod went extinct last year following the Cupertino giant's decision to discontinue it.
The smart speakers are not available anymore in any stores worldwide, but apparently, some online shops tend to sell them at a scalper price. However, some reports say that these products are shooting up once again when it comes to pricing.
Discontinued Apple HomePod on High Demand
Following the discontinued production of the original HomePod last March 2021, Apple said that it will still continue to make HomePod Mini despite the decision.
As for the latest news, Macrumors writes that the phased-out smart speaker appears to be in high demand at the moment despite a year of being unavailable to the users.
The price of the HomePod seems to be skyrocketing and it surprised the fans who have sold them before. If you're looking for a nice profit, maybe this is now the opportunity to earn more by selling this speaker.
In relation to this report, Apple has presented the Apple TV 4K with a picture of a HomePod. As the description reads in the box, it says that using this tool, the users can use them for "wireless surround sound."
Interestingly, this might be one of the reasons why the discontinued HomePod is currently rising in demand. Although it's still a good choice for such an experience, picking more suitable smart home gadgets will be ideal for many people.

Average Selling Price Doubles For HomePod
as iDropNews spotted via The Verge, the Apple HomePod saw a skyrocketing trend in its current value.
As of writing, the average selling price for this product now hits $350 regardless of its condition. If you compare this price to its original price, especially when it's brand new, it's $50 more than it.
To show the trend of its prices, The Verge unveiled a chart showing how its value moves on several sites such as eBay. $350 is still a low price for the HomePod since the factory-sealed models could be sold at a whopping price of more than $500.
iDropNews writes that some sellers go to the Apple store only to replace their old smart speakers with new ones. Later, they will flip their price to earn a huge chunk of profit from their buyers.
In the long run, the classic HomePod might be more appealing to smart speaker collectors. It is expected that the tech titan will release a next-gen HomePod in the future and we could potentially see it anytime.
Apple is clever in pairing the HomePod to the tvOS, but nowadays, people might go for a more advanced product that will give much more high-quality feedback. As such, they might instead buy a smart speaker with a Dolby Atmos support rather than sticking to the old model.
