Meta has released a new upgrade for the Oculus Quest 2. The social media company which recently dived into the metaverse has rolled out the hand tracking update for its VR wearable.
The mixed-reality headset does not only receive one upgrade, and certainly, it will not be the last one for this year.
Oculus Quest 2 Received Hand Tracking Update
Since Meta announced its plans to venture into the metaverse trend, many speculated that the company is now heading towards the release of virtual games on its own platform.
Indeed, it's part of the company's plan once the takeover starts. Speaking of Oculus Quest 2, hand tracking technology has paved the way for a smoother movement for the users.
To see its distinction from the last update, UploadVR writes that this feature can allow your hand to perform "dramatic" actions by merely using your hands. In this case, you don't have to utilize any controllers anymore just to carry out a certain gesture.
Moreover, the tech site has uploaded a comparison video wherein the Hand Tracking 2.0 upgrade was compared to the 1.0 release. Based on the short clip that's running under two minutes, the new update shows much "cleaner" movements than the latter.
Overall, Meta's decision to add this feature is a smart way especially when it wants to fully explore the virtual worlds. Truly, the users will achieve an immersive experience in moving from one world to another without any hassle or additional attached hardware.

High-Frequency Hand Tracking
The option to include the Hand Tracking 2.0 is a game-changing feature that fans want to see in the long run. In late 2022, the company might release this update as a default mode for the Oculus Quest 2.
According to BGR's report, the feature will not only give the users an immersive metaverse experience but also will pave the way for High-Frequency Hand Tracking.
This mode was launched last 2021. The report also includes that it will need some help from the developers to activate it.
Speaking of which, you cannot experience any FPS drop or unnecessary lags when using Quest 2's Hand Tracking 2.0. It's more improved than the High-Frequency Hand Tracking.
To mix it up, Meta is currently thinking of adding some haptic gloves for a more realistic metaverse experience.
If you're looking for a great VR headset, there's another alternative to Quest 2 that you should check out. In a comparison article from Tech Times last January, a spec-by-spec analysis was made between it and HTC Vive Pro 2.
It's a great pick to choose either one of them since these advanced VR wearables are somehow close when it comes to their features. That shouldn't be a problem when it comes to selection since the article will provide the particular specs that you need to see.
