Delta is Testing In-Flight Internet Using Starlink’s Satellite Connectivity

Delta Airlines is looking to bring a new in-flight internet connection on its airfare and ventures, and it will be with Starlink's satellite technology to beam the wireless feature.

The news may be rather unexpected from the two companies. Should it happen, Delta Airlines will be one of the first companies that will bring this feature.

Delta Airlines to Bring In-Flight Internet with Starlink

Reports are swirling about Delta Airlines about testing its flights and in-air features with a Starlink satellite internet connection mounted on their aircraft. The venture is something that the company has planned for a long time, but there were no significant reports of a partnership with the Elon Musk-owned company in the past.

Now, there are claims that Delta wants to offer internet satellite connections during transit, and it will be available for the passengers of that specific flight that has a receiver. In-flight internet at the moment is at a slow rate of connection for all, and it is because it does not have the capabilities to have its signal beamed from above.

Delta Airlines and Starlink's Venture

The Wall Street Journal initially reported this venture, with Delta's Ed Bastian spilling the beans over "exploratory tests" using the satellite internet. On the other hand, SpaceX and Starlink previously gave hints regarding its shift to commercial ventures for various industries including the aviation, for its satellite internet use.

Starlink: Internet Everywhere

Starlink is promising good internet connection everywhere, and it will be accessible at any time and region, says the CEO and founder of the company, Elon Musk. Users only need to have its satellite receiver and router to enable internet connection, and it would connect them whether it be driving on roads or going on outdoor adventures.

There have been many hints to an in-flight internet service that will use Starlink's satellite capabilities to bring connections possible on the air. Prior to the beta of Starlink, many ventures and talks were booming, saying that it is teaming up with massive corporations and businesses to offer its internet services for a global reach, even in-flight WiFi.

Current internet connections in flights are unreliable as they only offer minimal speeds, especially for commercial companies.

However, this is not for long as one massive airline company is already looking into having a deal with one of the world's most promising internet service providers, and it is with Starlink. It should be noted that Starlink is still in its public beta and it has not yet had a full release to its current users as of press time.

Nevertheless, it will soon launch its business on a full scale, on-ground, or in-transit for local and international connections.
