Apple Might Be Developing carOS Platform Inspired From Tesla Dashboard Screen

The concept around the Apple Car appears to be evolving since many reports reveal that the Cupertino giant is close to releasing it soon. The controversial launch of this technology first started in 2014 when company CEO Tim Cook teased that there will be a "Titan" car in the future.

Of course, the software of the car is also tied to its development. Recently, sources suggest that the tech titan will adopt a custom-made carOS software that appears to be inspired by the Tesla dashboard.

Notebookcheck.net initially spotted this new Apple software via the Taiwanese publication Digitimes. According to the report, the company might be considering the development of a special CarOS platform that could take a car's functionalities.

In addition, the article suggests that it could help the user to start the engine by activating it. They could also play music from their Apple Music.

Somehow, it could be similar to the current invention that Tesla has created for its electric cards. The resemblance offers a quick look with the dashboard screen used on the motors.

As for its manufacturing, an unnamed Korean firm is allegedly creating the Domain Control Unit or DCU for the Apple Car. If the information rings true, we might potentially see a carOS and DCU coming to the scene.

Aside from the driving functionality alone, the car driver could make use of advanced functionality inside the vehicle.

In doing so, activating the software, checking the maps, and locating several places will be much easier especially if it will be used with the current CarPlay feature.

Are We Close to Seeing an Apple Car?

In another story written by Techradar earlier this week, there's no guarantee that the Cupertino company will release an Apple Car in the future despite being pressed in the rumor mill that it will incorporate a carOS software on it.

The announcement about its development remains inconsistent and Cook is yet to release a statement about it.

The only hint that could happen as of writing is the autonomous driving software that Apple could introduce soon. But, it's not ideal to unveil it without bringing up a tangible product in the first place.

Speaking of this technology, we expect that Apple could tell more information about it in the upcoming events. Having a carOS that can freely operate with the Tesla dashboard could be a big moment for the company.

The competition among EV manufacturers in the market remains stiff. With Apple finally getting a touchdown with its own electric car, it will be more competitive than usual.

Previously, some reports noted that the firm decided not to push the Apple Car team for the development of its EV. However, it appears that the company will not stick to this decision in the long run.

In the next few months, it is expected that the members will re-assemble so they could release the Apple Car at least by 2025, Notebookcheck.net writes.
