"Elder Scrolls" titles are coming to Steam, and they will be available on the PC platform for all needs, despite these games being decades old already. Bethesda is bidding farewell to its online platform and choosing Steam to be its place to bring its features and games, giving the world more access to its titles available via the client.
'Elder Scrolls' is Coming to Steam with 'Arena' and 'Daggerfall'
Bethesda announced that it is "sunsetting" its Bethesda.net Launcher, and the company is migrating everything it holds to Steam's platform. Starting this April, we will have a hard time accessing the dedicated launcher for the games and offers of the company, but that does not mean there will be inaccessible for users, especially those with wallets and rewards.
With that, "Elder Scrolls" first and second title, "Arena" and "Daggerfall," are coming to Steam amongst other offers of the company. The company said users still need a Bethesda.net account but will only require this for games and its rewards and career track login process. It would not necessarily be for the launcher.
Elder Scrolls and Other Bethesda Offers are Coming too
The launcher will still be available until May, and users may access their games here, but it is not the recommended move by Bethesda. Soon it will close its platform entirely, and the company said it would be harder to access in the future. The whole Bethesda.net Launcher experience is available on Steam, the company said.
Other games, including "Fallout 76," "DOOM Eternal," "Wolfenstein: Youngblood," "The Elder Scrolls: Legends," "Rage 2," and "DEATH LOOP" are also coming to Steam.
Bethesda and Elder Scrolls
Bethesda got acquired by Microsoft last November 2020 by purchasing ZeniMax Media. The games and titles under the companies are also part of the massive family of software giants. The company's focus now is to develop its games, and it will play an enormous role in its release as an Xbox first before other consoles or platforms.
One of the most famous "Elder Scrolls" in existence is "Skyrim," and the renowned title from the gaming franchise got a board game based on its story and experience. However, it is not only Skyrim that makes "Elder Scrolls" a famous and notable fun from the developer's lineup, especially with massive names like "Fallout" and "DOOM."
Now that Bethesda is moving away from its self-made platform that aimed to stream the games and serve as a distributing client, it is now coming to Steam to offer its titles and experiences. Not only that, they are resurrecting two new games to port on modern PCs, giving them the chance to rediscover the "Elder Scrolls" franchise from the past.
