Microsoft Shrugs Off Idea of Bringing Back 'Some' Windows 11 Taskbar Features

Microsoft's latest take on the Windows 11 will make sure that a set of new features will arrive in the most recent operating system.

Although users expect a lot of things to come for the OS, the company said that some taskbar features won't come soon.

According to a report by Windows Latest, the Redmond giant announced that it would release some changes for the improvement of the Windows 11 OS. However, it was mentioned in the report that the shortcoming will not cover the return of one of the most awaited features: the taskbar.

Indeed, adding this feature poses a huge issue for the developer. Aside from requiring a lot of improvements, some of its known capabilities are not still present. These include "location change" ability and the right-click menu to name a few.

However, it's noticeable that the Windows 11 version 22H2 offers the drag-and-drop function, yet Microsoft still will ditch the option of setting up the taskbar location in the right, left, or top portion.

For those unfamiliar with the Windows 11 taskbar, its ability to alter the location on the screen remains locked. Although Microsoft took notice of this feature, it seems that it's not one of the priorities on the list.

In a YouTube Channel streamed last week, the development team behind the new OS said such a taskbar feature will not be added. The reason why it will not be implemented in the first place is the Start menu's animation flow that further needs evaluation.

"There are a number of challenges when it comes to actually being able to move the taskbar to different locations on the screen. Think about having the taskbar on the right, all of a sudden the reflow and the work all of the apps or Start menu have to do.." the company said.

On top of that, more features are expected to be put first and this is not the taskbar. Moreover, Microsoft clarified that its next improvement will focus on tablet optimization, overflow icons, and more.
