Although the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is doing its best to protect people from spam texts and calls, smartphone users across the globe still receive them.
Security experts always suggest avoiding answering calls of unknown contact numbers since they can be coming from hackers and other cybercriminals.

HITC provided the steps on how you can block spam texts from your iOS or Android device:
How To Block Spam Text on iOS
- Visit your Phone app and clock the Recents option.
- Find the Information icon and tap on the "Block This Caller" button.
On the other hand, you can also block spam texts from your Messages app.
- To do this, you need to click the conversation.
- After that, choose the Info button and tap on the "Block This Caller" option.
How To Block Spam Text on Android
- The first thing you need to do is click the Phone app.
- Then, choose the Recent option and long-press the number you want to put on the block list.
- Click the "Block/Report Spam" button and press the Block option.
Other Anti-Spam Text Tips
Aside from blocking unknown contacts, you can also use other simpler tips if you don't want to spend too much time blocking them one by one. These include the following:
- Don't respond to text messages from unknown contacts.
- Don't click the link provided in the spam text.
- Don't answer unknown calls as well.
On the other hand, The Verge reported that your mobile carrier should also make efforts to prevent spam texts or calls from reaching your device. One of the security measures they have is the so-called SHAKEN/STIR tech.
This means that you can also call your network provider to ask for assistance.
