Airplane mode is a special feature for almost all devices, including smartphones and gaming consoles.
Usually, this might mean that you're on board an aircraft, but there are many reasons why some people choose to activate their devices.
In Nintendo Switch, there are some reasons why you should opt for this mode. Here's why you should consider using airplane mode.
Nintendo Switch in Non-Airplane Mode
As we know, the Nintendo Switch features both connectivities in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. This is a very crucial addition to the gaming console because having the internet can allow users to update their games online.
Additionally, this will also help them link with their friends for a particular game. Some games require an internet connection, and you should know by now that you need it in the majority of today's games.
However, using the internet could drain a considerable amount of your Switch's battery life. Even though you're not using it, but it's connected to the Wi-Fi, it's still consuming the console's power.
If there's an ongoing update on-screen, they would also contribute to the quick battery drain so pay attention.
You will notice that a random notification will pop out on your Switch in some cases. Just like running updates, it can also contribute to the device's declining battery state.

Benefits of Airplane Mode
According to Life Hacker, activating an Airplane mode is not just only saving a lot of battery life on your device. It also lets you load a game faster. This claim was further supported by a Reddit forum about "Turning on airplane mode on Switch."
The evidence indicated that a player who played "Super Mario Odyssey" with detached Joy-Cons experienced faster screen actions when turned on the Airplane mode.
Even though the battery life is not the real issue here, switching to this mode will pave the way for a more responsive loading time.
However, there's also a downside to using it, especially if you're subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online. Since this subscription involves cloud saving, staying online is always important. You might not use the Airplane mode after all because of this.
It should be noted that activating this mode can disable Bluetooth communications. In using Joy-Cons, you need Bluetooth connectivity. There's a trick to manually enabling it.
To do that, you need to go to the System Setting, then Airplane mode. After that, click Controller Connection (Bluetooth).
Enabling Airplane Mode on Switch
In the same report, activating this mode on your Nintendo console will first require you to hold down the Home button so you can explore the Quick Settings later.
Then, select Airplane Mode and press A to begin the process. Alternatively, you can also turn this on from the System Settings.
