The advanced iPhone SOS feature was able to save a trapped snowboarder. Rescuers were contacted by the man's smartphone, even when it was already at 3% battery power.
Although this story is not really unique, this just shows that the SOS function comes in handy all the time. Apple explained that this iPhone feature could automatically reach the local emergency number.
Once you use your device's SOS feature, your added emergency contacts will also be notified. After contacting authorities or your emergency contacts, SMS messages will also be sent to them.
They will know your location, the time you used the iPhone SOS mode, and other essential information that can be useful for the rescue.
iPhone SOS Saves Trapped Snowboarder
According to BGR's latest report, Tim Blakely, the trapped snowboarder, used his Apple smartphone's SOS mode to contact the authorities to inform them that he is in trouble.
"Thank you to @apple, their side button 5 click to emergency services -especially great when your screen is constantly being dripped on," said Blakely via his official Instagram post.
Aside from Apple, his network provider's 3G connection service also allowed him to contact the rescuers. What makes his situation quite scary is that his handset was already at 3% during that time.
But luckily, the iPhone SOS feature was able to do its job. After 45 minutes of waiting, the rescuers arrived at his location. There's also a helicopter that airlifted him out of the deep crack.
Using iPhone SOS
Since the SOS feature of Apple is quite efficient, it is important to know how it can be activated. As of the moment, iPhone 8 and other newer models offer this advanced function.
If you want to use it, all you need to do is hold the side button and the volume button. After a few seconds, the SOS slider option will appear.
Once it appears, you need to drag it to the right side. This will allow you to reach the local emergency and your personal emergency contacts.
Meanwhile, a new iPhone Pro 4 leak claimed that the rear camera bump of the Apple smartphone will be adjusted.
On the other hand, the giant tech creator might soon the long-rumored iPhone leasing service.
