Disney Streaming hired ex-Google executive, Jeremy Doig, who previously worked for the video and audio compression technology for both YouTube and Google Chrome.
Disney Streaming Hires Ex-Google Exec
As per a news story by The Verge, the ex-Google vice president now sits as the chief technology officer of the streaming department of Disney, which oversees various services, including Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, Hulu, and Star Plus.
The news outlet noted that Doig has been with the search engine giant, Google, for 18 years before he left in favor of joining Disney, which now ventures into digital streaming platforms.
But aside from that, the ex-Google exec also worked with another tech giant, Microsoft. Not to mention that he also had a stint in the mainstream media outlet, BBC.
Ex-Google Exec and YouTube
The former vice president of Google, Doig, used to work on the video and audio technology on the video-sharing platform of the tech giant, YouTube, as well as its web browser, Chrome.
Doig previously worked on the streaming protocols and the compression technology for both the video and audio of the services of Google.
On top of that, according to a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter, the former Google exec was also behind the move of YouTube to acquire Green Parrot Pictures.
The massive deal essentially helped the video-sharing platform further upgrade the quality of its video processing.
That's not all, Doig also leads the VR or virtual reality team of Google as its engineering chief.
Disney's New CTO
The president of the streaming division of Disney, Michael Paull, said that the ex-Google exec "is a true visionary that has sat at the forefront of making online video streaming possible."
The Disney Streaming boss also noted that Doing has had a "30-year career at the intersection of technology and media."
On the other hand, the new chief technology officer of Disney Streaming said in a statement that he is "thrilled" to work with the massive entertainment firm.
Doig, who now works for the streaming division of Disney, said that the firm flaunts "powerful brands, content, and talent."
The ex-Google exec will be working under the leadership of the recently named president of Disney Streaming, Paull.
