Amazon Music is now becoming one of the major players when it comes to music streaming in the United States this year. In fact, despite competition from Apple Music, Spotify, and Pandora, the platform is now climbing to second place as the "largest music streamer in 2022."
Amazon Music Likely to Surpass Pandora in Terms of Users
According to the story by News18, Amazon Music is very "likely" to officially surpass Pandora this year as the company is gaining traction and has become the platform with the second most number of users when it comes to the US.
Another article by TechCrunch details estimates coming from Insider Intelligence, formerly known as eMarketer. The data shows how how Amazon Music can possibly surpass the number of users of Pandora.
Amazon Music vs Apple Music and Pandora
The study reportedly counted both ad-supported and paid plans. In addition, although Apple Music already has 38.2 million when it comes to the number of users, Amazon Music, on the other hand, has 52.6 million. Pandora only has 49.1 million.
As of writing, the estimated growth for Amazon Music is expected to be 5.3% year over year, according to the forecast. Pandora, on the other hand, said to have been losing users ever since the start of 2017.
Representative of Pandora Statements Regarding Number of Users
A certain representative coming from Pandora, however, declined to give a comment when it came to the new report. It was stated, however, that Pandora is still leading when it comes to being an ad-supported audio streaming service in the US.
According to the report by News18, Pandora currently has 52.3 million users, which is a decline from its previous 58.9 million users just a year before. The article by TechCrunch, however, noted that Pandora's number of users is currently at 49.1 million.
Amazon Music in Comparison to Spotify
Spotify, on the other hand, remains the top music streamer in the US with a whopping 180 million premium subscribers around the world.
According to reports from Spotify, the platform already has 93.38 million "active monthly users in North America." These include 28.8 million that have subscribed to the platform's paid plan.

Pandora Made $743 Million in Gross Profit in 2021
Per TechCrunch, Pandora was still able to make $743 million in gross profit in 2021. This is a 30% increase from its gross profit in 2020. Amazon Music, however, still continues to grow as the product has been seeing "some notable improvements."
Apple Music and Amazon Music, as of press time, both have lossless audio streaming which was announced in 2021. As of writing, Spotify still does not have that particular feature which was reportedly delayed.
According to the Apple Support website, lossless audio compression is defined as "a form of compression that preserves all of the original data."
