Twitch is rolling out a new initiative that could alleviate unreliable income, which is one of the biggest issues with content creation.
The Ad Incentive Program, or AIP, is a new Twitch program that will pay select streamers a guaranteed monthly minimum amount of ad revenue.
All qualified affiliate or partner streamers will get a notification from Twitch offering them different payouts based on the amount of ads run per hour and total hours streamed.
Twitch AIP
In the example posted by Twitch, if a creator streamed for at least a minimum of 40 hours a month, they could get $100 for running two minutes of ads per hour, $300 for 3 minutes, or $500 for 4 minutes, according to Ad Week.
Aside from tiered incentives, the AIP also comes with an ad management feature that controls when ads are played during a stream alleviating the burden of timing ad breaks.

In the announcement, Twitch stated that the amounts offered will vary by creator and that there is no cap on potential earned income.
Creators can get more revenue at their normal rate for streaming beyond the needed minimum number of hours.
If a creator opts out of the program, the platform said that they can get a prorated payment based on the number of hours streamed.
The AIP seems like a kind of universal basic income program for creators. Income unreliability is one of the biggest headaches for all content creators.
The revenue from donations and subscriptions can wildly fluctuate monthly, creating a precarious environment for people who depend on that income.
According to Twitch, having a reliable ad revenue should enable creators to better plan for the future, whatever that may look like. The platform hopes that it is another step towards empowering creators.
Play on Luna
Aside from the AIP rollout, Amazon also added Play on Luna. Amazon is now acting on its 2020 promise to allow Twitch viewers to play games on Luna.
According to The Nerf Report's Bryant Chappel and 9to5Google report, Twitch has added a Play on Luna button that lets you get into games on Amazon's cloud game service.
If you are a Luna subscriber in its early access program and have linked to your Twitch account, you will see the option to begin playing titles available through Amazon's platform.
Engadget has reached out to Twitch for more details, like platform support. The button only appears on a game's overall page instead of the Twitch channels.
The addition of the feature on the platform won't spur much interest in Play on Luna given the effort involved in seeking it out. It just brings Play on Luna a step closer to Amazon's original vision of seamless Twitch Integration.
Moreover, it gives Amazon a bit of an edge over Google Stadia. Google has yet to fully connect its own game streaming service into YouTube, and only enabled Crowd Play, which is joining online games from a YouTube stream, in 2021. There is a massive possibility that Twitch will expand the access to Play on Luna in the near future.
