"Oldboy" director, Park Chan-Wook, decided to rely on iPhone 13 Pro to shoot his new short film titled "Life is But a Dream."
The South Korean creative professional is well known for producing very unusual movies but has deep meanings. Aside from the 2003 thriller "Oldboy," he also released "The Handmaiden" back in 2016.
All of these films relied on video cams, such as the Panasonic P2, as well as DSLRs. However, his new 21-minute short film is quite different since it used Apple's iPhone 13 Pro.
'Oldboy' Director Uses iPhone 13 Pro
According to 9To5Mac's latest report, the entire movie of Chan-Wook was shot using an iPhone 13 Pro. Although the film used a smartphone, the visual output is comparable to other popular Asian films, maybe even better.
On the other hand, Apple seems to be proud of its popular handset since the tech manufacturer shared the new film via its official YouTube account.
"Commissioned by Apple. 'Life is But a Dream', a martial arts fantasy by internationally renowned film director Park Chan-wook ('Oldboy', 'The Handmaiden', etc.)," captioned the iPhone maker.
As of the moment, the YT post of Apple has already generated almost 90,000 views in just a few hours after it was published. If you want to watch the new short film, you can check the video below.
Apple Shares BTS Video
Aside from the full movie of Chan-Wook, Apple also shared a BTS (Behind-the-Scene) video of the new short film.
The BTS footage could generate more than 79,000 views and 3,300 likes. The South Korean director shared how he was able to create a quality film using an iPhone 13 Pro.
He said that the features of the smartphone helped him achieve the output he wanted. These include the ability to shift focus without any lag. The director further shared that the color quality of the iPhone 13 Pro also allowed them to get great video outputs even when shooting in the dark.
However, the production team of Chan-Wook still attached the handset in a gimbal to ensure that the shots were not shaky.
After using the camera features of the iPhone 13 Pro, the creative professional claimed that it is comparable to other professional shooting cams. Want to see more of the BTS video? Watch the video below.
In our previous report, Apple's iPhone 13 production decreased back in December 2021. Meanwhile, iPhone 13's noise-canceling feature was removed.
