RAM 1500 full-electric pickup is releasing with an extended range version when it launches a few years from now or in 2024.
RAM 1500 Electric Pickup
The first-ever full-electric pickup of Ram notably competes with its current rival automakers, such as Ford and Chevrolet with their own F-150 Lightning and the Silverado EV, as per a news story by AutoBlog.
Not to mention that the biggest EV maker today, Tesla, is also teasing that it would soon start the production of its all-electric giant pickup, the Cybertruck. However, it has been repeatedly delayed since its CEO and founder, Elon Musk, unveiled it to the public way back in 2019.
Adding to the emerging all-electric offerings, Ram is releasing a full-electric Ram 1500, and the carmaker is now gearing up for its launch.
RAM 1500 Electric Pickup Extended Range Version
According to a recent report by InsideEVs, the CEO of the Ram brand, Mike Koval Jr., told AutoBlog in an interview that the automaker responds to the needs and interests of its customers.
He then confirmed that the upcoming all-electric is coming with a range-extended or REx version once it releases in 2024.
However, Autoblog said in the same report that the Ram CEO did not expound more about the power train of the REx version of the upcoming electric pickup. The exec also confirmed that the said variant is releasing in 2024.
That said, there is a possibility that Ram would base the REx variant on the all-electric truck, adding a fuel engine for the added power of the pickup.
However, Autoblog added that it could also follow suit the BMW i3, which uses a hybrid engine.
It is worth noting that electric vehicles, although powerful enough for towing, drastically lose their precious range when they are used for towing.

RAM 1500 Pickup: Range Electric Paradigm Breaker
As such, InsideEVs said that the American automaker previously announced, last July 2021, that the pickup is coming in both all-electric and a "Range Electric Paradigm Breaker," which basically comes with a technology that extends its range.
Ram further describes its REPB or the Range Extended version of the BEV to sport the same characteristics of the latter. However, it would boast a "real-world range."
InsideEVs further speculated that Ram could include an onboard generator to increase the battery range of the pickup when it is towing.
