As per a news story by MacRumors, some Mac users started experiencing battery drain issues on their machines after updating to macOS 12.
These users have been complaining that their MacBooks' battery has been draining from 100% to 0% overnight after leaving them in sleep mode without using them at all.
One Twitter user that goes by the name FishJourner tweeted that macOS 12.2 is "behaving like Windows," noting that his battery dropped to 0% while it was asleep.
Although there have been numerous Mac users that have been reporting the battery drain issue, the extent of the current issue on macOS has yet to be determined.
Apple has yet to acknowledge or release any fix for the battery drain issue while Macs are under sleep mode.
MacRumors noted in the same news story that the issue involves both Intel-based MacBooks and the newer M1-powered Macs. So, the issue has nothing to do with the chipset that these machines are carrying inside them.

According to a report by MacWorld, Apple released the 12.2 macOS update last Jan. 26, following the release of the 12.1 version way back on Dec. 13, 2021.
The 12.2 update of macOS Monterey comes with a couple of bug fixes, specifically for its built-in web browser, Safari.
Apple released a fix for a Safari vulnerability in the latest update of macOS Monterey, which could potentially expose the private information of its users.
The vulnerability exists not just for Mac users. In fact, Safari users on iPhone and iPad are also facing the same issue, wherein the private data of their Google accounts are vulnerable to hackers.
It is worth noting that one of the most-awaited features of macOS Monterey, the Universal Control, was not included in the release of its 12.2 version.
On top of that, it turns out that the latest update of macOS Monterey carries a new bug that drains the batteries of MacBook even if it is in sleep mode, wherein it is supposed to hold power for a long time.

macOS 12.2 Battery Drain Issue: How to Fix
MacRumors highlighted in the same report that some users pointed out that the power drain issue is due to a mess with Bluetooth connectivity, which constantly wakes up the MacBook when it is supposedly asleep.
In turn, the numerous disturbances from the sleep mode of MacBooks are draining their batteries overnight to 0%.
So, in the meantime, macOS 12.2 users could turn off the Bluetooth of their MacBooks to stop the battery draining issue temporarily until Apple issues a concrete fix for it.
