Original COVID-19 Ended ‘A Long Time Ago,’ Variants are New Sequences Says Elon Musk; How True Is This?

The "OG" or original COVID-19 virus is long gone, says the famous engineer, CEO, and tech billionaire, Elon Musk. The CEO believes that the variants that people see today are far from the coronavirus that first manifested itself in 2020. It is remarkable for the dangers that affected the world of a virus and rendered it unable to make social interactions.

Tech CEO Elon Musk said that the "OG COVID-19" ended a long time ago, and the virus we are currently experiencing now is not similar or near to the 2020 SARS-CoV2. Despite coming from the billionaire, it is essential to take these words with a grain of salt, as this is an opinionated statement and does not necessarily reflect that of experts and health organizations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) still considers the strains from Delta to Omicron, and the latest Omicron BA.2, are still under the coronavirus that originated in 2020. These variants and all the upcoming ones that may come are from the SARS-CoV2 gene, as regarded by scientists and health experts alike.

The proof from WHO also means that people should not take COVID lightly, especially now that vaccines and boosters are publicly available.

Are variants Not COVID-19? Musk Makes a Meme

With these events, the eccentric CEO famous for his comedic takes online makes a meme out of the situation that talks about the protection from COVID-19 that does not necessarily protect people. The image mentions the root word "protect" often, and it aims to be a satirical take on the protection against COVID-19 that allegedly does not work.

COVID-19 and its Variants After 2 Years

COVID-19 featured a lot of variants over the past years, featuring the pandemic still reigning with its chaos for people to get infections and its virus. However, the introduction of vaccines also helped push the strains to develop, which led to many developments to prevent the virus from happening.

However, the vaccine is not to blame for these variants. It is a natural occurrence that while humans adapt to immunization and vaccines, the virus is also doing the same. Bizarre cases are even seen now as Los Angeles first reported the "Flurona" case, which focuses on both influenza and the coronavirus in one.

Also present in the country is the manifestation of "Deltacron," which combined the deadly Delta virus and the rapid infections of the Omicron variant.

The world's top executive has the right to believe that this is not the same COVID-19 anymore, but his words may mislead many people as fans and enthusiasts of the CEO are strong on social media. Nevertheless, it is not entirely factual that the current variants now are not that of COVID-19, only that they changed a lot from where they started since 2020.
