Apple's macOS Monterey SharePlay feature has already rolled out to its stable release. It now allows Mac users to listen to music or podcasts and watch movies or series, along with their friends and loved ones.
Apple's SharePlay and macOS Monterey
Apple introduced the SharePlay feature in the public beta version of iPhone's iOS 15 last September.
Later on, the said functionality also made it to the beta release of macOS Monterey.
As per the report by The Verge, SharePlay lets its users consume content like music, movies, and even games, along with the people close to them.
Last Dec. 6, the Cupertino giant released the SharePlay feature to iPhone users via the iOS 15.1 update, bringing changes to the FaceTime app, according to the report by MacRumors.
Apple macOS Monterey SharePlay Release
This time around, on Dec. 13, Mac users are also in for a treat as SharePlay also made it to the stable update of macOS Monterey.
On top of that, the latest update of macOS also brought the Apple Music Voice Plan, which lets users access music from the streaming service of the iPhone maker through Siri.
However, it is worth noting that the latest update of the macOS Monterey still lacked one radical feature that Apple introduced during its launch last September-the Universal Control.
The said feature allows its users to control their iPads and Macs using a single set of mouse and keyboard.
macOS Monterey SharePlay: How to Use
Going back to the latest feature that macOS Monterey introduced in its latest update, here's how to use it:
Before anything else, make sure to update your Macs with the latest macOS Monterey version 12.1 or higher.
- Open the FaceTime app on your Mac.
- Then, click the "New FaceTime" button on top of the left sidebar.
- Select the contact that you want to share your screen with.
- Upon doing so, select the FaceTime button.
- Wait until the call has been connected to your contact.
- Next, open the TV app from your Mac to watch your preferred series or movie. If you want to listen to your favorite tunes, open the Music app instead.
- By playing a video or song, it would automatically be shared with the person on the other side of the FaceTime call.
It is to note that the SharePlay feature will allow users to control the media that you are sharing with them, giving them access to the play and pause buttons-to name a few.
