Viral TikTok Video and COVID-19 Post-Effect

The twenty-year-old girl that goes by the name Natalia Cano is not experiencing a temporary illness, as per the report by Mashable.

Instead, the garbage-like smell on her food started when she was infected by the novel coronavirus during the early months of 2021.

It is worth noting that what the girl in the viral TikTok video is experiencing is a post-COVID symptom that other patients also had.

The post-effect of the COVID-19 infection disturbingly distorts the sense of smell of Cano, wherein all the food that she tries to eat smells and tastes like rotting garbage.

Cano shared her post-COVID experience in an emotional video on her TikTok account last Nov. 14.

In the now-viral video, she took a video of the moment that she found out that the post-COVID experience that she was having is an actual condition.

The viral TikTok video of Cano is a response to another content on the platform by a user that goes by the name Ashley Zibetti.

In the clip of Zibetti, she shared how she is forced to clip her nose wherever she eats to prevent herself from smelling or even tasting her meal.

COVID-19 Post-Effect: Food Smells Like Garbage

According to the news story of the affiliate television channel of NBC in Tampa, Florida, there have been numerous COVID patients who are currently suffering from the condition known as Parosmia.

These patients further noted that the condition continues even after they have recovered from the novel coronavirus.

Parosmia ends up leaving COVID-19 recoveries an awful experience of smelling a foul scent from the air, making eating their food a difficult task.

The news outlet further reported that the awful smell could be found on things that use to have a pleasant smell, as well as those that did not have any in the past--like the air.

Cano went on to say in her now-viral TikTok clip that she thinks that no one actually understands how much the condition affects her everyday life.

The girl in the video further explained that the food she's eating smells and tastes like "it's garbage, it's sewage. "

What's more, Cano then urged her viewers to wear their masks when going out, warning that COVID-19 could cause long-term symptoms just like her situation.
