Google's latest flagship lineup, both the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro is home to some impressive upgrades, like the first Tensor chip of the search engine giant.

However, the latest smartphone from Google is also encountering some issues, including the sluggish fingerprint scanner.

Pixel 6's Google Assistant Random Calling

But this time around, the bug from the Google Assistant of the Pixel 6 comes with a weird issue, which calls random people from its user's contact list.

As per Lifehacker, although "butt dials" are really a thing even with other smartphone models, Pixel 6's issue occurs even when the device is inactive and locked.

That said, some users are wondering what is the reason behind the ghost dialing from their smartphone.

It turns out that the culprit to the random calls is Google Assistant, according to the report by GSMArena.

It comes after some users of the Pixel 6 checked out their "Google Activity" history, which revealed that Assistant were making these random phone calls.

However, these users were still baffled as to how these phone calls were initiated as they do not even recall uttering the hotkey "Hey Google."

That said, it turns out that the problem is a software issue with Pixel 6's Google Assistant.

Now that we understand why your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro is randomly dialing phone numbers from your contact list. Here's a guide on how to fix it.

How to Stop Pixel 6 From Randomly Calling Your Contacts (Permanent Fix)

It is worth noting that Google has yet to release an update that actually fixes the issue with Pixel 6's Assistant.

While a fix is still underway, in the meantime the best way to stop the issue is to completely disable Google Assistant on your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.

Doing so will, of course, throw-away tons of Google Assistant features along the way, but it sure does stop your Pixel 6 from randomly reaching out to your friends or co-workers.

With that said, here's how to disable Google Assistant on your Pixel 6.

  • Open the Google app.
  • Then, select your profile from the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Next, tap Settings.
  • After which, choose Google Assistant.
  • Select "Lock screen."
  • And disable the "Assistant responses on lock screen" option.
