Apple iPhone 13 Suppliers Ramp Up Hiring as Launch Nears—Raising Signing Bonus to $1,578

Apple iPhone 13 suppliers, like Foxconn, are now ramping up their hiring to recruit extra workers as the launch of the new smartphone approaches. The fierce competition among the manufacturers has already raised the signing bonus to a record-high $1,578.

As per AppleInsider, this is a piece of old news, except for the whopping bonus. That said, iPhone assemblers and component suppliers traditionally recruit significant extra employees by July or August--ahead of the yearly debut of the new Apple smartphone in September.

For instance, the outlet further noted that Foxconn also raised the bonus in July 2019 for the then-upcoming iPhone 11, and again in September 2020 for the iPhone 12.

Meanwhile, Foxconn, the long-time Apple supplier, previously predicted that the component shortage will worsen in the second quarter of 2021.

Apple Suppliers Ramps Up Hiring

This time around, South China Morning Post reported that multiple iPhone 13 suppliers, namely Foxconn, Luxshare, and Lens Technology, started the yearly tradition of ramping up recruitment alongside lucrative incentives.

The outlet further noted the declining interest of the labor force to work for the Apple suppliers compared to the previous years. Thus, the competition is stiffer than ever.

The additional recruits are necessary to further ramp up the production of the upcoming iPhone models. It is to note that the Cupertino titan targets to ship about 130 to 150 million flagship smartphones in the second half of 2021.

As such, Apple suppliers from the Asian countries needed to produce an output of 90 to 100 million to reach the predicted initial iPhone orders.

Apple Suppliers Raises Signing Bonus

To stand out in the fierce recruitment, Foxconn had to shell out a record-breaking $1,578 signing bonus for those who will stay for at least 90 days to attract more employees. The new figures are $30 higher than the offer of the Apple supplier in July.

Meanwhile, other Apple suppliers in China, Luxshare Precision and Lens Technology, are likewise providing bonuses to attract more people to join their workforce.

Lens Technology has already increased its bonus to $1,548 as early as May from the $774 last February. However, only those who stayed for seven months are eligible for the lucrative incentive.

On the other hand, Luxshare Precision also has its version of incentives at the tune of $586 for its returning workers. Plus, there is also a referral bonus of $772, as per the official WeChat account of the Apple supplier in Guangdong province.

Elsewhere, another Apple supply chain, King Yuan Electronics, recently shut down due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
